Loving My New Vernacular Snapshot Find

I recently purchased this amazing vernacular snapshot of a young couple reflected in a fun house mirror. It looks as though they are at a beach. As you can see they are dressed in formal attire. I wonder if they dressed up for the photograph?

Oh I'm convinced they actually looked like this. Mr. and Mrs. James Squatter and all their squatty little kids.

It is a fun shot. And what's interesting is it's leaning up against the railing across from the booths on the boardwalk. You'd think a fun mirror would be at a stand hoping to draw crowds in, not along the beach side. Hmmmm...Coney Island, Atlantic City, Ocean City? Some boardwalk on the East Coast. A Sunday romp on the boardwalk away from the stifling heat of the inner city.

Thanks so much for the commentary on the photograph. I have had a terrible case of writer's block lately (hence my lack of posting on the blog) and although I LOVE the photograph - I couldn't think of a thing to say. Kim

This is really a fun shot! People used to dress up when they left the house back then, didn't they? Especially for a date.
